SUPPORT AND DEVELOPMENT OF CULTURE

1. A CONTEMPORARY ART COLLECTION

The Foundation owns an important contemporary art collection, and lends individual works of art to public exhibitions. A number of works have been donated to institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), the Norton Museum (West Palm Beach, Florida), the Espace de l’Art Concret (Mouans Sartoux, France), the Lam Contemporary Art Center (Havana)…

2. A WORK SPACE AND A MEETING PLACE

- The Foundation’s headquarters in Paris serves as both studio and rehearsal space for artists, to use at their convenience.
- Artists-in-residence may organize semi-public shows in support of their public or institutional partners.
- The Foundation invites creators, professionals involved in culture, to take part in debates and gives artists, exhibition curators and choreographers a free hand to do as they will.

3. CULTURAL PROJECTS

The Foundation manages cultural projects throughout the world, more specifically in Latin America and especially in Cuba where it has forged close relations.

In Cuba, it is actively involved in the dance, and plastic arts biennials, and has created the NOEMI PROJECT which includes:

CUENCA BIENNAL (ECUADOR)

The Cuenca biennale (Ecuador) inaugurated its 10th edition on october 23 and will close on december 4.
The Cuenca biennale has in the past mosly shown artists from the Americas and in particular from South and Central America; The intention of the Cuenca biennale is not to be a showcase for well known and well established artists, but rather to present younger and and emerging talent. It is a unique oportunity to discover new artists and new experiments in art and at the same time to enjoy one of the most beautiful and fascinating cities situated high in the Andes. If you are looking for a hyper art scene and its vip parties and art market environment seen at other biennales as in Venice you are in the wrong place in extraordinary Cuenca.

In its 10 edition the organizing committee headed by its director, Rene Cardozo and the chief curator, Jose Manuel Noceda decided to invite several European countries.
The Brownstone Foundation was very honored to have been selected as the curator for France and selected the video artist Laurent Grasso and his work entittled "Eclipse".
